Yannick,
Dutch Translator
Yannick is our Dutch translator, a reliable pair of hands when urgent projects land, and the person you want on your side when a PM is racing against a deadline. He loves the variety of working with different clients and text types, and there’s nothing quite like a 100% QA score to make his day. He also helps with CAT tool guides and training our new translators, and he’s become rather good at keeping things organised along the way.
Outside work, Yannick likes to keep moving, whether he’s playing football several times a week or taking a walk along the beach. Sitting still for too long is clearly not his thing, unless there’s a television involved, in which case he can fall asleep with impressive speed.
His office essentials are coffee, bananas and cashews, although any snacks left unattended around him may have a surprisingly short life expectancy. He’s also famously not a karaoke person, thanks to a childhood singing recording his parents still enjoy using to embarrass him. Some family traditions really should have an expiry date!
Yannick brings a relaxed, friendly presence to the office and appreciates what the Dutch call gezellig, that cosy feeling of enjoying good company. If Comunica ever gets stranded on a desert island, he’ll probably take a step back, see what everyone else comes up with, and then suggest a few improvements. Sensible, really, especially if someone else is doing the climbing, preferably somewhere without a low ceiling
